Mainstream vouchers assist non-elderly persons (ages 18-61) with disabilities. Apart from catering to a specialized population, Mainstream Vouchers follow the same rules and regulations as other Housing Choice Vouchers.
Participant Eligibility
- Must meet the Housing Choice Voucher program eligilbility requirements such as those related to income, citizenship or immigration status and mandatory screening exclusions.
- Be a family that includes at least one person with a disability between the ages of 18-61. (The eligible household member does not need to be the head of household.)
- Provide verification of transitioning out of institutional settings, or at risk of homelessness.
Mainstream Policies
(effective August 20, 2024)
- Waiting List Preferences, residency preferences do not apply to Mainstream voucher applicants.
- Initial Search Term, all initial search terms are for a minimum of 120 days. This also applies to Mainstream participants who are moving with continued assistance.
- Extension of Term, if requested by the applicant/participant, the extension is for a minimum of 90 days.
