
Welcome to the Caribou Housing Authority’s website.
Thank you for your interest in the programs managed by our agency. We hope this website will serve as a guide to our policies and programs and that it will be used as a tool to assist you with your housing needs.
The Caribou Housing Authority is a department of the City of Caribou, that was was adopted by the municipality in 1977, per Maine Statue 30-A 201-4721. Caribou Housing serves the City of Caribou and surrounding communities, within 10 miles (excluding the City of Presque Isle and the Town of Fort Fairfield).
Our Housing Authority is advised by a seven member Board of Commissioners. Members of the Board must be citizens of the communities served; with two members participants of the programs served, and two members of the City Council.
The Caribou Housing Authority administers programs of housing assistance, primarily partnering with the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). In doing so, we oversee programs featuring:
- 196 rental assistance Housing Choice Vouchers
- 40 rental assistance Mainstream Vouchers
- Family Self Sufficiency program for both Voucher and Public Housing Participants
